Final declaration of the participants in The Ninth Annual Conference “Safe Road Infrastructure”

For the ninth consecutive year, the Bulgarian Road Safety Branch Association organized the annual conference on "Safe Road Infrastructure". The event was held on 19 and 20 September 2023 in Plovdiv and brought together around 300 delegates involved in road safety issues.

Proven road safety experts delivered 12 presentations on topics that highlighted the vast amount of positive experience, research results and solutions to improve the quality of the different elements of the road transport system as well as the interaction between them. Particular attention was paid to good practices in road maintenance, the costs that arise from the occurrence of road accidents, as well as gaps in the regulatory framework.

As a result of the issues raised, the discussions held, the activities discussed to ensure safety, and the new developments in European road signalling standards, guided by the right of every person to enjoy the highest attainable standard of road health, while bearing their shared responsibility for safe behaviour, the participants in the conference unanimously adopted a Final Declaration. The document contains priority points promoting the work of institutions towards building safe road infrastructure and reducing the preconditions for road accidents.
